-Pleading the blood of Jesus…is it Biblical?

What in the world is “pleading the blood”? What does it mean and why do some Christians do it?

Answer: A couple of reasons. It is because of the tradition of men and their lack of Biblical understanding.

Please do not look at the title of this post and base your response on the title alone. Please read the post in its entirety to understand why “pleading the blood” by way of the examples given is not biblical. The blood of Jesus is important and this post does not dispute that. This post is about using the blood of Jesus by “pleading it” in order to get a house, job, fight enemies and etc. Some of us, depending on what church we go to, have been taught many things out of tradition, error or simply from a lack of understanding.

Pleading the blood is often practiced during deliverance sessions and some do it to ward off the devil or evil in their homes. Pleading the blood is also done for materialistic gain. When we do this, we have reduced ourselves to magical formulas – just like when some of us “bind satan”. We don’t need to beg the blood of Christ into our houses and on our possessions or to gain more possessions. If we are truly Christians, then the blood of Christ has covered the sin in our lives. So by saying, “I plead the blood of Christ,” according to the Bible has zero effect on satan (no one in the Bible has ever “plead the blood of Christ” the way I am describing above). What has an effect on satan is our holiness, righteousness and salvation. “Pleading the blood” doesn’t mean anything (by saying it out of our mouths as if something supernatural is supposed to happen). The way to effectively defeat satan and his demons is by simply having a pure life, confessing sin before God, engaging in spiritual warfare the Biblical way and that takes care of it.

There are some Christians that use the practice (now a cliché) of “pleading the blood” over just about everything – unsaved family members, cars, houses, children, jobs, and things they want cleansed or delivered. Just about anything gets the blood pleaded over it. But this is an unbiblical practice and just wrong on so many levels. Is this going to take us to hell? No. But we are commanded to grow in the knowledge of God. Truth adhered to, no matter how much it offends us has the power to make us free. Some of us do it with pure sincerity. It is simply the way we were taught and everyone around us is doing it. I must admit, tradition has crippled us. In a day were there is so much false doctrine we must contend for the faith as never before and be watchful else we will be deceived.

The idea of “pleading the blood” is not even a biblical concept (by way of examples given above. Please keep that in mind when reading this post). The blood of Christ has already been plead in our behalf and it washed away our sins and made us children of God, justified and redeemed. There’s nothing else left to plead. On the cross Jesus said it is finished. Now we simply have to just believe the Gospel and obey it. Nowhere do we read of the apostles “pleading the blood”, but we do read throughout the NT that they overcame satan and trials with faith, confidence and absolute trust in the Lord.

Where does this view come from?

It is believed by some that pleading the blood simply means applying the blood to our life and circumstances just like the Israelite’s applied it to their door posts and were protected from the destroyer (Exodus 12). Some also believe that pleading the blood is simply the taking hold of the authority and power available to us by the death and resurrection of Jesus. Some believe it is our priesthood right. Although we are priests, Jesus is our high priest, we cannot apply the blood over any or every thing we want cleansed. The blood is applied only to those who have faith in the atonement of Christ. It is an individual’s choice and it happens only once, when we first believed. If the above views are to be believed and accepted, we must then ask ourselves as believers, “how many times are we going to send Jesus to the cross to keep crucifying Him?” Didn’t He say it was finished? Aren’t we now adopted, redeemed and justified? There is no need to keep sending Him to the cross. We cannot put the blood over people and things them or on them. This is a spiritual act and only God can do it. We can confess it until we are blue in the face, it’s not happening. We don’t have the power to save anyone/apply Christ’s sacrifice to anyone or anything. As believers we cannot resource Old Testament types and apply them to our faith. Jesus fulfilled them already. In the Old Testament motif’s, the blood was sprinkled in the holy of hollies for the people by the high priest once a year. But the objects were those set apart for the Lord, strict instructions were given by God himself on this matter. The high priest could not sprinkle the blood on anything his heart desired. This was done only on the objects God set apart in the temple. It was sprinkled on the ark and the mercy seat for their forgiveness.  We see no such practice by the apostles or instructions in the epistles to do any such sprinkling or pleading of Christ’s blood on anyone (even those demon possessed). In the Old Testament it was a physical act by the priest to put the blood on the altar, not moving it from one place to another. It is the same principle in the New Testament, one cannot move it on to those people or things for cleansing by speaking, (pleading it). The blood represents the life of the person, we cannot plead His life on others. Only the high priest handled the blood to go on the mercy seat for the forgiveness of sins. In the NT, that high priest is now Jesus. Jesus is the only one who can “sprinkle” His blood, not us. We can’t physically touch it today nor can we apply it somewhere else spiritually. We are not the high priest, Jesus is.

So, the blood was to be on the altar before God (Exod.24:6) and Moses took half the blood and put it in basins and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. Heb. 9:19-22:” For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,  saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you.”  Then likewise he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.”

In the NT it is now the blood of Jesus that continues to cleanse today. It cleanses all those who have faith in Christ’s sacrifice because it is eternal. There is no magical power in application of the blood for the numerous uses it is used for today (purchase of houses, cars, to make our unsaved family members do right, to keep evil away, to stop an unfavorable situation from happening, to make our church meetings successful). It was for the cleansing and forgiveness of sins. To use it in the ways described throughout this post means (let’s be honest) that we have a distorted view of its application and meaning. Christ’s blood is precious, incorruptible, eternal and holy. There is so much power in the blood of Jesus Christ. It is by His blood that we are saved and our sins are forgiven. It is by His blood that we are no longer enemies to God. We who were far off are made nigh by the blood (Ephesians 2:13). How powerful and awesome is that! As Christians we should not “plead the blood” (as if it has not already been done for us), but remember that it has already been pleaded for us on the cross well over 2,000 years ago and it is still at work even now in all of us (those who believe). We have to constantly remind ourselves of the shed blood of the Son when we are struggling with guilt. In remembering what He has already done is both permissible and effective. Now that we understand that it is done, we can repent and turn from our sinful ways and yield to God and His Spirit. God will forgive us.

Ephesians 1:7 states, ” In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”

Scripture teaches that it is through the blood that our sins are forgiven, nothing more and nothing less. When we are overcome with guilt, we need to go back and remember the cleansing power of the blood. That is our only plea–as in a courtroom plea. In that sense, we can and should plead the blood, not by confessing or asking God to do it, but by remembering that Christ has already done it for us on the cross and understand that because He shed his blood we have forgiveness of sins. And if we confess our sins He will be faithful and just to forgive us our sins.

Nowhere in scripture does it teach us to “plead the blood” for any other reason (wealth, gain, protection or for fighting the devil). Pleading the blood has often taken on a meaning that goes far beyond biblical teaching. It has become a magic charm that is used in a supernatural way. Truthfully, it is borderline manipulation and witchcraft. This may sound harsh, but it is what it is. Pleading the blood is never taught in scripture and can have serious implications. It puts us into bondage and error. Historically, this has been happening in every Age to Christians (in the bible, the Middle Ages and etc.). They were mixing superstitions and magic with their Christianity.

Galatians 4:9 says, “But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, where unto ye desire again to be in bondage?”
The Bible teaches us well how to fight the Devil, how to abide in God for protection, and anything else we need. God has already given us everything we need in His Word for life and godliness. We don’t have to resort to anything else. This is how following un-biblical practices can put us into bondage. If we don’t do it the way scripture teaches us we will not be free and it hinders us from growing in the knowledge of God. We need to stay with biblical teaching. Let me point out two of the many methods scripture teaches us to successfully have victory over the devil. First, we are to submit to God and resist the devil – James 4:7. That is, we are to resist his temptations to sin by submitting to God (casting down every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Christ).

James 4:7 states, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

In this verse, resistance is the opposite of submission. To resist is to refuse to submit, yield, or give in to. If we will resist the devil, the Lord will help us and the devil will flee just like he fled when he tempted Jesus in the wilderness. Jesus continued to resist Him with the Word. This is the example we should follow. Not something man made through tradition.

According to 1Corinthians 10:13, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

We must believe and practice this. Those who use this as a means to access the power of God, His protection, etc.. should really begin to re-examine this practice (and others like it) in light of scripture and learn to rightly divide the word of truth. This practice has become like a magic phrase. It is not taught in Scripture and can/does have some serious consequences (it can lead to unbelief, false faith, and disappointment). We need to remember that beliefs have consequences – good or bad. Often, consequences can be a death sentence for some. When we fall into the trap of using something as a magic solution or supernatural trinket, it brings us into bondage.

Again, this is an unbiblical practice. The Bible contains no record of its ever being used by any apostle, prophet, or any other believer. Paul and the other apostles preached in many demonic places without once reciting this mantra. It is a vain practice that opens the door to much error, fanaticism, and spiritual bondage. It needlessly gives attention to satan, demons and highlights our lack of knowledge and understanding of the truth of God’s Word. Please don’t engage in in-biblical practices.

Be Blessed,

When I use this I don’t use it in a mindset that there’s magic in what I just said. I use the WORD because it will not return to me void period. I understand what your saying but what about alot of other things that are being done by LOTS of christians everywhere like Christmas, and Easter I never seen in the Bible that we are to keep remembering Christ birth and Easter being about bunnys. The Blood of Jesus is powerful and I believe there’s more God wanst to reveal about it through the Holy Spirit.

Hi Jessica I would like to share something with you from THE WORD. It is good that you follow by the word, but sometimes without the guidance of the Holy Spirit we humans can misinterpret the word or misunderstand. Here is a scripture that God put upon my heart to share with you and whom ever receives it. I hope this would clear up any confusions: Acts 6:29-32 Peter and the apostles replied,”We MUST obey God rather than any human authority.. The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you;[speaking to the Sadducees and high priests]killed him by hanging him on the cross. Then God put him in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince & Savior. HE DID THIS SO THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL WOULD REPENT OF THEIR SINS AND BE FORGIVEN. We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.

I’m listing this scripture because it is very crucial to understand that it was by Jesus Christ dying for our sins and SHEADING HIS BLOOD THAT SAVES US FROM SIN AND COVERS US FROM ALL OF OUR WRONGS. EVERYTIME A PERSON PLEADS THE BLOOD ITS AS THOUGH MORE UN-NECESSARY BLOOD IS BEING SHEAD. ALL WE HAVE TO DO AS CHRISTIANS IS BELIEVE THAT THE POWERE OF JESUS” BLOOD BEING SHEAD THAT DAY WILL TAKE CARE OF EVERY PROBLEM, EVERY DOWN FALL, EVERY DOUBT, EVERY ASSIGNMENT THAT THE DEVIL THROWS AGAINST US. JESUS PAID IT ALL; AND THOUGH WE MAY NEVER BE ABLE TO PAY HIM BACK FOR HIS MERCY, WE CAN AT LEAST START BY LIVING RIGHTEOUS, STAYING STEADFAST IN HIS WORD BECAUSE WHEN MEN LIE THE WORD IS ALWAYS TRUE, AND DON’T BE CONFORMED TO THE PRACTICES OF THIS WORLD. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DOING SOMETHING IN CHURCH AND YOU DON’T KNOW IF ITS RIGHT OR WRONG, GO STRAIGHT TO THE WORD AND SEE IF THE APOSTLES PRACTICED IT…IF NOT, THEN IT IS A MAN MADE PRATICE AND IF WE FOLLOW WE ARE CONFORMING TO THE WORLD AND NOT TRUSTING IN THE WORD OF GOD; BELEIVE IT OR NOT! ANOTHER THING YOU CAN DO IS USE A SEARCH ENGINE LIKE GOOGLE AND TYPE IN QUESTION LIKE: DID JESUS TEACH THE APOSTLES TO DO…OR DID THE APOSTLES DO…WHERE DOES IT SAY IN THE BIBLE THAT WE SHOULD…? NO WHAT I MEAN? MEN (MEANING MEN AND WOMEN, I’M NOT SEXUS…LOL) WILL LIE BUT, THE WORD OF GOD STANDS TRUE! GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY THE SPIRIT OF GOD GIVE YOU GUIDANCE, WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING FROM THIS DAY FORTH. :-)

Powers signs and wonders are for now. Rev 12 is not just the blood of the lamb but the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives. Religion loves to talk about what Jesus did in the past what He will do in the future, but faith is now. Jesus is alive and working now. They had the form of Godliness but denied the power there of. Where is the power of the beginning. When Peter was explaining about his visit to Cornelius the power was like in the beginning. The voice of God’s rhema when spoken out loud back to God shows we heard Him, gives us an inner witness that it is true and accomplishes what He spoke and sent it to do. Paul prayed to the God of the Lord of us Jesus Christ Eph 1:17 the Father of glory may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in a full knowledge of him. God the Father is in John 16:24 who we pray to, in Jesus name. John 16 and 17 Jesus came that we might know the Father Eph 1:7 redemption through His blood Heb 10:22Jesus sprinkles and bathes us so we can enter the holiest by the blood of Jesus, raised and seated with Him. Heb 4:16 Let us approach with confidence the throne of grace, in order that we might receive mercy and grace for timely help with houses, and jobs and cars and cares. Humbling our selves under the mighty hand of God, casting all our cares on Him. At His throne of grace. We eat His body and drink His blood. This is my blood covenant. I enforce it at all times. When Satan accuses me before the Father, I plead the blood of Jesus. Yes his blood cleansed me once for all for ever. Now I have a confession, a testimony of what the blood has done for me. Forever I will speak of it, you will not shut me up. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth. The demonstration of the Spirit and of Power, You only speak what you believe. Speaking your faith out loud is one of the greatest acts of faith you can do. Powerless Christians are afraid to speak their faith out loud because the spirit of fear keeps them quiet. They don’t like to hear other believers express any confession of faith, or testimony of power, or enforcing the law of faith, and the law of the Spirit of Life, like it was a magic spell Really did you say that? You called speaking their blood covenant to the accuser like a magical charm. The law of the Spirit of Life has made me free from the law of sin and death. What part of spiritual law don’t you understand? You need to get a Spirit of Faith, and Power and love and a sound mind. Paul told Timothy to turn away from those who have a form of God but no power. There really is a scriptural basis for pleading the blood of Jesus,or asserting, or claiming what is your’s through the blood. The new covenant is with a good God who provides for the children of God. Look up the Hebrew meaning of good in Strong’s, prosperity, pleasure, well, at ease, then look up evil. Our Father in heaven, your name is Holy your Kingdom come, On earth as it is in heaven, deliver us from evil. That we might know only you, goodness and mercy. There is no evil in you Father. Thank you God the Father I pray this in Jesus name. If you have ears to hear the Holy Spirit will reveal more.

        Steve,

In all love, you have missed the entire point of this post and that is exactly why I wrote in the beginning that this post is freedom from manipulation to all of us who were taught about the blood of Jesus incorrectly. Some of us are coming out of witchcraft. What we were taught is witchcraft. No one is trying to “shut you up.” If you were taught about the blood of Jesus the correct way, then praise the Lord and God bless you. However some of us were not. The blood of Jesus was not shed for us to get cars and houses. That is the point of the post and that is why I said it was used as if it were a magical charm. It seems as if you got caught up too quickly in your feelings. No one is trying to take your testimony away. I am sorry if I offended you. Take a look at the post again. It is saying the same thing you are.

the blood of Jesus has great power, but with great power, it also has great purpose. It bridges the gap between God and man. His life in exchange for another. We are to eat his flesh and drink his blood. Did he ever tell us to put his flesh and blood on our doorpost, on our cars, or any other place? we are to apply his blood to our heart, to our being. To let His essence and character, his structure, transform our lives. This is not a superficial, or outward thing. It is a deep internal work. It has consequences that are seen outwardly, as we begin to operate in a deeper level of understanding with the Lord, but it starts on the inside. It starts with our spirits, hearts, minds, and bodies seeking after and connecting with the Lord. It has nothing to do with what we say, but who we are, and where we are in connection to the way, the truth, and the life. It has everything to do with our connection with The Father. The sacrifice of Jesus’ blood on the mercy seat opens us up to this connection. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
      Love endures all things,

Hi Jessica! I totally understand what you are saying, but I am not in total agreement. We cannot go beyond what Scripture teaches no matter what. There is nothing in Scripture that the Holy Spirit will reveal that is not already written. There is NOTHING in Scripture that teaches us to use the blood of Jesus the way that most of us do by pleading it for protection and things of that sort. I use to do it too until I read the Bible and most of what I was taught I had to get rid of it because it was not Scriptural (this being one of them). Again my sister, Scripture teaches us that the blood of Jesus Christ is for the cleansing and forgiveness of our sins ONLY (Rev. 1:5; Eph.1:7; Col. 1:14. Nothing more and nothing less. As for Christmas and Easter, you are absolutely right lol! As Christians we all need to go back to sound doctrine! Often we do things because it is tradition or we do them out of ignorance. In these days and times it is time out for ignorance. We are all accountable for ourselves and we cannot blame anyone especially if we are too lazy to read the Bible (not you, but Christians in general). But if we know the truth we should tell it. This is what this site is about. Personally I don’t put a lot of emphasis on those “holidays” because as a Christian I thank the Lord for His birth, death and resurrection every chance I get and I don’t need a “holiday” to do so – no true Christian should. I understand that you may not use the blood of Jesus as a magic chat, but you must ask yourself are you using it in a way that the Bible does not teach? Are you using it to apply protection (for you, your family, your possessions and etc.), to cast off evil, to “name and claim” things or people? For years we were taught this, but it is wrong. We have to always look to Scripture for the right way of doing things even if it hurts our traditions, what we were taught and personal understandings. I urge you to look into this for yourself and if you have to, get a concordance and look up the word blood for the NT and study how it is applied to us and what it does. I guarantee that you will not find it being used the way some of us use it today. It all comes down to sound doctrine. If Scripture does not teach it we should not engage in it. Be blessed.

I am so grateful for this artical. I am writing a book to address so many practices that churches engage in that are unbiblical, and this article has pointed out, yet another practice that Christians need to check. It is time for us to let go of these traditions of men, and follow the Word of God,because when Jesus comes back, He’s coming for that church that is without spot or wrinkle. He said that unless our righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and pharisees, we shall in no wise enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. These unbiblical practices can be equated to the practices that the scribes and pharisees engaged in during Biblical times. It is time that these practices be addressed so that no striving saint will be lost. If we don’t go beyond being religious, and learn that our daily walk with Christ is what will make the difference in our salvation, we might be sadly surprised when we meet the Lord

I agree, this is an unbiblical practice, its sad to see how cult-like some of us saints are getting. We have opened the door to heresy and this just brings in fear, superstition and it leads us further away from God. Let us stick the Sola Scriptura.

I agree with you that the bible is the final authority for sound doctrine, so when it comes to binding Satan and his demons one cannot overlook the authority given to Christians in Matt. 16:19 when Jesus told Peter that whatever he bound on earth will be bound in heaven. Because Satan nor demons are omnipresent, only our triune God is. Therfore, their attack is limited to where we are; nor are Satan and demons omnipotent because Christ defeated them on the cross, so if Christians bind Satan and, or demons on earth, they are bound in heaven. Jesus said whatever you bind; one cannot redifine whatever. Jesus did not ask demons to obey Him; He commanded them to do whatever He said, and they obeyed. When Christ said, “It is finished, when He gave up His life on the cross, that included Satan’s defeat, the redemtion of all who belive and recieve Christ’s free gift of salvation, and every Christian’s adoption now includes authority to bind Satan. The Lord God Almighty has reserved the right to have Satan bound by one of His angels and cast into hell for a thousand years,as John the beloved tells us in Revelation 20:19.
    Sincerly, Timothy Watlington

    Hi Timothy Watlington,

Glad you agree, but as for “binding satan” it is simply not scriptural and here’s why:

In Matthew 18:18 of course, Jesus said, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Some people interpret this to mean that Jesus was telling us that we have power to “bind” the devil or his demons, or to “bind” sickness or poverty and to “let loose” health and wealth. Scripture does not support such interpretations. I know tradition has played a huge part in some of our churches with all sincerity in most cases, but we must now put all such enthusiasm, tradition, ignorance and emotion behind us and seek for a truly Scriptural perspective on this and other matters.

That scripture (and many others)was totally taken out of context. To understand what Jesus is saying it is important that we don’t cherry pick the scriptures to make it mean one thing when in fact it means another. To fully get the context, we need to read the entire chapter in context. The context of this situation begins in verse 13 when Christ asked the disciples, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?”. Peter answered, “ You [Jesus] are the Christ, the Son of the living God”. Then Christ responded, “You are Peter [petros, which means little rock], and upon this rock [petra, means very great rock, referring to Christ Himself] I [pointing to Himself] will build My church”. Christ was telling Peter that He (Christ) was about to establish the New Testament Church and that the gates of hell would never prevail against it.

In Matthew 16:19, Christ continues, “And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven…” The “keys” He is referring to here is symbolic language meaning that He gives His ministers the knowledge of how to enter the kingdom. This knowledge shows the way of life a Christian must follow in order to achieve salvation “…and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven…” This does NOT give us the authority to change what God has said in the Bible, nor does it give us the “authority” to “bind satan”. The true ministers of God have been given the authority to bind only that which is in agreement with God’s laws. You see, he words “bind” and “loose” were commonly used among the Jews in those times in the sense of forbid and allow. They relate to the binding and annulling of laws and rules. The power here given to Peter was soon after extended to the rest of the apostles (Mt 18:18). The apostles were to lay down, as they afterward did, the law of the new kingdom, defining what things were prohibited and what permitted. Jesus was saying their actions in this behalf would be backed up or “bound” by God, because they were none other than the acts of the Holy Spirit expressed through the apostles. When God’s ministers make a decision, it is based on Scripture—based on God’s will. Therefore this chapter does not have anything to do with satan and his demons, or “binding” them so that they won’t wreak havoc.

You said “The Lord God Almighty has reserved the right to have Satan bound by one of His angels and cast into hell for a thousand years, as John the beloved tells us in Revelation 20:1” and that is true, but if that is the case, then what are we doing? If everyone is “binding” him left and right, who is setting him free?

Again there is no biblical support for Christians binding Satan but – the really great news is that Satan has already been bound by a mighty angel on the authority of Jesus Christ Himself at the commencement of this age of the Church! Don’t forget, Jesus had said, “How can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then He will spoil his house”(Matthew 12: 29) Satan was restricted so that the preaching of the Gospel could be effective! (Matthew 12:28-29, Luke 10:17-20). Satan is bound by the cross of Christ. There the serpent’s head was crushed and the forces of evil routed. So certain was Christ of victory as He went to His cross that He could say emphatically,”Now is the judgment of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out” (John 12: 31).

The authority was granted to Jesus and resulted in the restriction on Satan (Matthew 28:18-20) and it happened at the cross. Of course, Satan still has certain power but he is restricted like a dog on a leash who can be dangerous if one foolishly gets too close, but the devil cannot prevent the people whom God is calling from being added to the Church during this age of the Church due to this restriction which has been placed upon him (the meaning of this passage of scripture), yet he remains vicious seeking whom he may, and the key word here is “may” (meaning he must be given an open door) devour.

Case in point, Christians cannot bind satan because Christ has already bound him. So the direct influence of satan on those who come to Christ can be just about ruled out; only lukewarm ‘stragglers in the pack’ who foolishly wander into the path of this devourer are at risk (Ephesians 6:10-11; 1 Peter 5:8-9). Remember satan goes around seeking “whom he may” or who will let him devour. Yes, Satan loves to roam, prowl and raw but he can only do so within his restricted parameter.

My wife and I got into an argument on the subject tonight. I highly honor the blood of Christ and believe that when I accepted the atonement I accepted God’s forgiveness and the sacrifice of the Lamb of God applied to cover my sins for all time. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Since Christ lives in us, I do not consider it a stretch to believe that like our blood cleanses us from impurities, his blood does that in our spirits. However, my wife goes beyond that an believes that pleading the blood for protection is vital because the blood protected the Jews from death on the passover. I certainly pray for protection, but Ephesians 6 tells us what armor to use, and pleading the blood is not one of the weapons. She cites instances where it worked. I say when we pray earnestly, God often answers even if we get some of the details or process incorrect. It is like healing and the atonement. I believe God wants to heal us most of the time. However, there is no Biblical record of any apostle telling those who were sick that they should appropriate the healing that was in the atonement. We have to be careful not to omit anything in the Bible, but also not to add to it teachings that people extrapolate from some verses without a witness of the whole counsel of God for the belief or practice.

John, well said bro. one thing that came to mind when I read your post, is that Christ is the new covenant. we see many many instances of pleading the blood in the old testaments because that was the Law the God gave; but because of the new covenant of Christ, we no longer have to plead the blood – or rather “beg” as some dictionaries put it ;-) . the freedom, protection (though we need to be careful to not get caught up in the health, wealth, and prosperity gospel), and forgiveness is already there. we just need to walk in it! :-D

    A cool saying I heard once: “God’s love isn’t a pampering love; it’s a perfecting love!”

    Blessings!

Response: Pleading also means praying and appealing which means we are going to Christ a Higher Authority than satan to ask for protection has all the effects we need for delivery and protection.

Response: “Pleading the blood” means everything. Are you saying ‘Praying for the Blood of Jesus has no affect on satan, evil, or evil doers’? To defeat satan you must rebuke him in everything you say or do. Do not give him no credit for anything – regardless. Never to acknowledge him.

Hey PDCM you inspire me to do my own studies on this! I knew in my heart that it was inaccurate but didn’t have the weight of scripture to back it up. Tradition in church is so dangerous and this is the very reason why we need to know our bible and communing with the Holy Spirit for accurate understanding in every subject of God. The church is in so much need for a reformation of God so we can get things back in the correct order. Another topic that may ruffle feathers is the subject of communion and it is not about eating a cracker/wafer and drinking wine/juice but much more meaningful and deeper than that! But hey that might have been a topic that has been discussed. I found this site by google. I agree with the issue of binding satan stuff too. People trying to bind him but living by his ways lol madness! Reminds me of the seven sons of sceva! All the accurate and correct answers are in the scriptures. It goes back to what Jesus said to this guy in the Gospel of Luke concerning the scriptures “HOW readest thou the scriptures”

    Goodday Sir,

Not up to 24hours ago, I was talking to the church during our Bible study in the church where I worship in India concerning the “pleading the blood” of Jesus. Without even coming to your site, I boldily told them including the Pastor that it was wrong. I pointed out to them on Aaron’s days and that of Mechizediek. I told them, the church that Christ did poured out His blood as a sacrifice to the sin nature and that this He did once and for all and no need for us to be repeating but they will not believe me, including the Pastor.

They told me it works and that there is power in the blood, yes there is power in the blood but not the way the use it. I did same many many years ago before I came to know the truth on the subject.

To be honest with you, I want to leave the church but some reasons are still holding me, the Pastor is very loving to me and wants me to teach in a house fellowship and also in the sunday school. I have being rejecting this offer because some of their teachings are different from what I read in the Bible. Always putting emphasis on the oil, either for protection or for prayers. child delievery. The members attach so much interest on these things and I am making some of them understand.

What do I do? I dont condem them but the pratice. How best do I handle it. So this now led me to your website. Thanks so much for having something like this, remain Blessed.

    Paul

Hi, I read your story and I am saddened that no one has answered your post. I would like to offer some small suggestions if I may.
I am an elder in the church and I came from a Pentecostal background, which sounds like the type of church you are at. So called, Holiness churches and Pentecostal churches follow this type of teaching and it has been my experience that they will reject anything that opposes their view. I would suggest you simply share what God has shown you to all who want to listen and to those who don’t, ask questions about what they believe instead of trying to make them understand what God has blessed you to believe, which is the truth. Ask questions and listen, then explain why YOU are still confused about their answer. This is the time to draw their attention to scripture that contradicts their belief and say you understand what they’re saying BUT it doesn’t seem to fit with this in scripture or that in scripture and ask them to reconcile it for you. In this way the Holy Spirit may illuminate the Word of god to them in time. We are only here to bear witness to the light, and carry that light but we are not THE light but Christ in us. Bless you. Sincerely, Elder Hunter.

Paul, I know how you feel. For the last year I been studying the Bible, no longer just reading it like I have been the last 20 years. I spend many days, weeks and months studying both pro and cons about subjects I also had a hard time understanding. Today I know more about the Bible teaching than I have in the last 20 years combined. I too have been told to stop spreading false teaching and have been rebuked from the pastor during his sermon. I will not stop telling the truth and educating other because that is what the Lord wants us to do. Stand your ground. Let your pastor know that you will teach only the truth as God gave it to you. At times we have to suffer, but our reward in heaven is great.

I was watching TBN today and the minister was saying “Do you need finances – it’s the blood…do you need healing…it’s the blood…” and on and on. I was so angry when I heard this. I was under that kind of teaching for many years (WOF), and my faith in the goodness of God was almost destroyed because, no matter how many times I plead the blood or bound the devil, bad things still happened to me and my family.

    Thank you for speaking truth.

thanks so much. I have the most wonderful Pastors and they teach SOUND DOCTRINE and TRUTH. Last night at one of our minisry meetings our Pastor was asked about our evangilist saying to plead the blood daily over our lives, and we were told that was not even in the bible anywhere. I always trust my pastors completely, but there are some things I always like to just look up and confirm. This is a wonderful site. I found it by going to ask.com and asking the question about pleading the blood. Thanks so much for the Truth of Gods Word.

As I’ve been reading all down here, yes I can see now that there are many things that we christians do do that are not in the Bible.
But what about when we all or most of us go to church on SUNDAYS is that in the Bible (Church on Sunday) NO and it is a BIG NO God gave to us SATURDAY to worship and fellowship with HIM.
I know that we can fellowship with HIM any time of any day, but Saturday was the day for rest, and fellowship with HIM.
And just where do these easter bunnies come into the picture?
Christmas day was never the 25th of Dec. But Easter was more close to the day as it is governed by the moon, and this time is never the same date each year.

If we all went back to reading God’s Word and understanding it correctly I would say this world would be a better place to live in.

I have to DISAGREE with your thoughts on pleading the blood of Jesus. While the practice itself is not biblical, the principle behind it is very biblical. Pleading the blood of Jesus is an AFFIRMATION of our FAITH as followers of Jesus in the cleansing, healing power of the blood Jesus shed for all mankind on the cross.

    Isaiah 53:4-6 says:

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

When you say that pleading the blood is not biblical, I am not sure if you really understand the magnitude of Jesus’ death on the cross, or what it really means for us.

Not only diid Jesus death on the cross take away the sins of the world, it also healed us of every sickness or disease we would ever face, and it restored to us the peace that God always meant for us to have.

So when we say “I plead the blood of Jesus” what we are saying is “I have faith that this problem has already been taken care of by Jesus death on the cross.” It’s an affirmation of faith, and faith is the thing that moved Jesus in His heart in the New Testament. Remember the woman with the issue of blood? Remember the father of the girl who had already died? Yet the man’s faith was so great that he still sought Jesus, knowing Jesus could restore her to life.

But remember also that, where there was unbelief, Jesus could do no miracles (Mark 6:5). So if you plead the blood and think it isn’t working, don’t blame anything on God. Check your own faith. Remember Jesus also said, “It shall be done to you according to your faith.” (Matthew 9:29)

I say once again, pleading the blood of Jesus is an AFFIRMATION OF FAITH, and Jesus does indeed honor and reward faith.

I am sorry that I am late with this post, but I did mean to get back to you on this and for the sake of others who would read your comment.

I am going to add some of this in the post because the point is being missed. You said “When you say that pleading the blood is not biblical, I am not sure if you really understand the magnitude of Jesus’ death on the cross, or what it really means for us.”

I do know what it means for us and I gave the proper meaning of what the blood means in the post. This post is about what “pleading the blood” is not. It is not meant to be used as a spiritual warfare tactic, to plead on our children so that they will obey us, to plead on the devil when something does not go our way. This is what I and many others have been taught and again that is what the post is about.

You said in your closing paragraph “So when we say “I plead the blood of Jesus” what we are saying is “I have faith that this problem has already been taken care of by Jesus death on the cross.”

Where does Scripture teach us that? Where does Scripture teach us that “pleading the blood” takes care of our life problems. This is exactly what I am talking about. Scripture does not teach us that, tradition did. Scripture teaches us that (and this is directly from my post) it is through the blood that our sins are forgiven, nothing more and nothing less. When we are overcome with guilt, we need to go back to the cleansing power of the blood by remembering what He did and repent because that is our only plea–as in a courtroom plea. In that sense, we can and should plead the blood, again by remembering that His blood was shed for the remission of our sins and if we just confess our sins he will be faithful to forgive us our sins. No where in scripture does it teach us to “plead the blood” for protection or for fighting the devil and for our life situations (I added that in for this response). Jesus did not shed His blood for our life problems, but for our sin problem. Again, in that sense, pleading the blood has taken on a meaning that goes far beyond biblical teaching. This is what the post is about.

You said…”It’s an affirmation of faith, and faith is the thing that moved Jesus in His heart in the New Testament. Remember the woman with the issue of blood? Remember the father of the girl who had already died? Yet the man’s faith was so great that he still sought Jesus, knowing Jesus could restore her to life. But remember also that, where there was unbelief, Jesus could do no miracles (Mark 6:5).”

Your statement of pleading the blood as an affirmation of faith sounds wonderful but just because it sounds wonderful does not mean it is right. Please consider this…when Jesus died and shed his blood is was done as a Propitiation to the Father so that we could be reconciled. The Father accepted His payment for our sins. This doing was between God the Father, and God who came in the flesh because He loved us..the man Christ Jesus. We ourselves do not apply, or handle the blood, it is applied to our lives by the high priest Jesus Christ when we believe in faith to receive His Atonement (Eph.1:7; Col. 1:14) in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” Heb.9:15 teaches us that Christ is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death. God the Father accepted Jesus’ death as His blood was shed on the cross. It was completed when he died. As Christians it has already been applied for us. Those who are not must repent and believe the gospel so that it can be applied to them as well. Now, if it is already done, why are we “pleading the blood” as if we do not believe or do not realize that it is finished? Please understand that the blood only works when it is applied by faith and again Christ shed his blood for the remission of sin and it continually cleanses us. We do not have to “plead the blood” as Christians because it does not have to be reapplied as if it lost its power.(1 Jn.1:7-9)

You said…” So if you plead the blood and think it isn’t working, don’t blame anything on God. Check your own faith. Remember Jesus also said, “It shall be done to you according to your faith.” (Matthew 9:29)

My question to you is.. since we are Christians and our sins have been remitted and we have already believed in faith and have receive His atonement, when we “plead the blood” what is it suppose to do for us now? Didn’t he do it already? I am not talking about our life’s situations, problems, trials, things that are happening to us that we don’t like, a new job or car….He did not shed his blood for that. I am talking about sin. Didn’t he once and for all take care of it?

Amen! Sister Vicki, it is my conviction that those who are arguing their perspective of NOT pleading the protective blood of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ may not have ever encountered demons or engaged in spiritual warfare. The demons know who is covered by the blood of JESUS Christ and they hate it. My sincere prayer is that while iron does sharpen iron we not debate and get so hung up on who is right! The Word of God is right, it’s infallible and let’s put in the time and energy into our witnessing and taking authority over the enemy while witnessing to those who are LOST and do not know Christ as Savior (yet)! My belief is when we all get to heaven we are going to realize that some of us were right and some were wrong!

Fight the good fight of faith in the name and the authority of the LORD JESUS CHRIST! 1 – mind, 1 – body, 1-spirt

I was studying the Bible about the blood of Jesus Christ right before I found this site. There was no mention of “pleading the blood of Jesus” in the Bible. However, there is power in the blood of Jesus unto salvation. Jesus came to destroy the works of the evil one. When we sin, we are influenced by the evil one. However, there is also real demonic oppression and harrassment, especially on those who does the work of the Lord, e.g. pastors, and missionaries. When I pray “Satan, the blood of Jesus has defeated you”, I am praying according to the Word of God.

Jesus has given Christians the ability to perform signs and wonders (just like their Master) for them to accomplish the Great Commission.
In Mark 16:15- 18 Jesus said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

However, there is ignorance in using the authority for our own gain (health, wealth and prosperity) instead of in winning souls for Christ. Jesus came and suffered, so did his disciples and, also, Paul the apostle. The Bible is clear that if we suffer with Him, we will also be rewarded in His glory (Rom 8:17 ).

The power of the blood is greater than you and I can fathom. Through it, all believers can have the power to resist temptation, and overcome the evil that is in our heart when we want to gossip or backbite. It gives Christians the power to live a life that is honorable in the face of bad health, bankrupcy or any hardships that we face. It allows us to have joy in all circumstances and it opens the way for us to enter into the throne room of God :

Heb 4:16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

    Now that is powerful!

Hi Joshua! And praise the Lord. I am happy to say that there is no such thing as the “spirit of poverty.” The phrase “spirit of poverty” is nowhere in the Bible. However there is the phrase “poor in spirit” in Matt. Chapter 5 which means something totally different than what I am about to discuss.

The “spirit of poverty” often refers to some demonic spirit who curses or causes individuals, nations, or generations making them poor in material or earthy wealth and keeping them that way. This is a lie and scripturally incorrect on all levels. The Bible does have phrases beginning with “the spirit of” such as”

The spirit of jealousy (Num 5:14)

The spirit of whordoms (Hos 4:12)

The spirit of bondage (Rom 8:15)

The spirit of slumber (Rom 11:8)

The spirit of truth, error, the antichrist and I can go on and on, but when the Bible speaks of “the spirit of” it is usually talking about a disposition one has (except when talking about the Spirit of God or an evil spirit), not their situation or results of a circumstance (for example poverty can be caused by many things like bad choices, lack of education, some disaster or misfortune).

If there is a spirit of poverty then their must be a spirit of riches and we know that there is no such thing. See how silly it sounds now? Poverty is not caused by a spirit and there is no Biblical evidence implying such. Scripture teaches us not to seek after material wealth anyway because as Christians this is not where our treasure lies (Matt. 6:19-21). Jesus said to store your treasure in heaven and Paul writes and echoes Jesus, “For we have brought nothing into this world and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we should be content. 1Tim 6:7.

The truth of the matter is that wanting to be rich is a desire from our fallen nature, the flesh, and often stems from self ambition, greed, covetousness and etc. No apostle ever told the church to desire riches, they actually taught them not to. They also did not reprimand them for being in poverty; they had compassion on them and used whatever money they had to help them. Preachers today make people feel bad if they are not wealthy and tell them that it is a result of their lack of faith. They also preach messages of prosperity and blame lack on a spirit that they have to “bind” and convincing believers to “sow seeds” (which is their way of telling a believer to buy their way out of debt or to pay “God” for a way out…so sad) all under the guise of spreading the gospel. They figure if you are rich then the ministry will be rich because believers will use their riches for the furthernance of the gospel. Lord help us!

Look at King David. He prayed not to be poor that he would have to beg, but he also prayed not to be rich in fear he would forget God, something so many people do when they become rich. This is one of the snares that they fall into. Jesus promised that He would take care of us. That means He will give us all the things that we need for this life. Jesus warned that riches were deceitful and choked the Word of God unto fruitlessness. “And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful (Mark 4:19; Matt. 13:22). Paul said that those who seek after riches will lose their faith (1 Tim.6:9-10).

Jesus and the apostles always taught about spiritual riches not earthly riches. When a church or the saints are focused on earthly riches they lose the spiritual riches that are in Christ.

As Christians we have to learn how to be content, and learn not to covet for more than God has given us. Does that mean God want us to be poor? No, but if we just so happen to be poor does His Word promise that He will take care of us? Yes (Matt. 6:26).

To know the Lord and have salvation is greater than all the riches of the world and no matter how much riches we have on earth we are poor compared to the riches God can give us. The truth of the matter is that the Bible does not teach prosperity nor does it teach being poor. What it does teach is that we have and Christ is more than willing to give us spiritual blessings today and that is more important than any material gain that we can ever have. Our riches are in Heaven. We are not citizens here on earth, we are just passing by until we can enter into our mansions in Heaven and walk on streets paved with gold. Even though some think this is symbolic, however it does give us an example of how meaningless and worthless earthly riches are compare to heaven (eternal life with God; communion of life and love with the Father).

The problem is some people can’t wait for this (which takes true faith) they want it all now even if it costs their soul.

      God bless you.

Hi, I just came from bible study and part of the discussion was about pleading and applying the blood of Jesus! It is amazing how culterized our churches have become and how christians mimick what they hear rather than search the scriptures for themselves! I have been guilty of applying and pleading the blood of Jesus but now I have been enlightened with the knowlede that it is not scriptural to do so.I thank God for this site and His word! Be blessed I am going to share this with everyone I know!

I believe this article was written in ignorance. First of all, let’s just start with saying that “Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins.” I won’t look up the scriptures now.

In the garden, after sin came in, God was the first to shed the blood of animals to apply a covering for the “First Couple’s” sin. “A life for a life.”

After Cain killed Abel God said “Abel’s blood CRIED out from the ground.”

“There’s life in the blood.” It carries a voice of it’s own.

When the blood from Jesus’ body dripped, ran, streamed out of his body to the ground, God said that “if the Blood of Abel cried out against Cain, how much more will the blood of Jesus cry out from the ground.” It cries holy, holy…or cries unclean-unclean.

When the Israelites were holden up waiting for the death angel to pass through, “God said, put the blood on the door posts…and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.”

The harlot that saved Israel let out a scarlet ribbon and her life was spared.

All through the Bible from the beginning to the very end, the scriptures talk about the blood thread that unites the whole Bible.

Why was the blood of Jesus so important? Because Mary provided the egg that was given life supernaturally from God. The blood in Jesus veins was life that God implanted there. That was the reason for the cross…”There is a fountain opened up in the House of David.” That was speaking of the fountain of blood that flowed from Jesus’ veins. A fountain is an ongoing flow…not once…but continuously.

Angels respond when the blood is mentioned. Angels are dispersed to the heirs of salvation. Salvation only comes through the blood that was shed.

From this point on, I can only speak from experience. In a vision that is more real than the trees outside my home, I saw how many angels respond when we praise and mention the blood of Jesus. Thousands and thousands fill the area around that praise. There’s power, power, wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb. (type of sacrifice to cover Adam and Eve)

If you don’t believe in anything else but the blood, it will take you through to heaven. Nothing is as important as that life of God in the blood form that was shed on the Cross.

This leads me to wonder why someone would go to all the trouble of saying we don’t have to plead the blood. What does the word “plead” mean: transitive verb to answer “guilty” or “not guilty” in response to a charge in a court of law. Obviously, if we plead the blood, then the blood covers our guilt. We are no longer guilty. transitive verb to use a particular reason or circumstance to excuse or justify behavior

The Bible says that we often sin without knowing it…however, “little children, if you sin, you have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one”

The reason Jesus Christ was righteous is because he carried the Blood of the Heavenly Father in his veins and that is what he took to the cross to shed in our behalf so we are no longer GUILTY,

When I plead the blood, I do so with the knowledge that God hears my prayer and angels will back up my plea to help bring about an answer.

I hope this helps… The blood must continue to flow or it will coagulate. When blood coagulates, clots form and death can occur. The church of Jesus Christ needs to get the Blood flowing AGAIN.

      Hi Annie,

Thank you for your comment. This post was not written in ignorance. I think you did not read it with understanding. I say that because what you have posted is true and you have said everything that I have said in my post minus the history lesson. Please read it again and in the context of what the post is really about. Perhaps you only read the title and formed your opinion on that alone. Again, I and probably others have been taught to use it as a means of getting what we want, pleading the blood on objects and other people or as a spiritual warfare tactic. This is what the post is about and I have explained why this form of “Pleading the blood” is not biblical.

      Dear Annie,
Thank you inexpressibly for your comment. Can I please note a few salient points that seem missing in your contibution.

In my opinion, “HEBREWS 9:12 …but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption”. The offering of the blood has been made once and for all.

PROOF 1 – “JOHN 20:27 …put your finger here, see my hands. Reach out your hand and put into my side….” I believe the blood had stopped flowing, delivered to the Father for atonement not coagulated.

PROOF 2 – “ROMANS 12:4-5″ since we are the body of Christ, how then will the blood not automatically flow through us except we be infidels or cast away? Will the hand or leg request a flow of blood before it be supplied; but except it has been taken over by gangrene(infection of sin)?

PROOF 3 – JOHN 15:3 …if a man REMAINS in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing VS REVELATIONS 3:16 ….because you are lukewarm ….I am about to spew you OUT of my mouth. Can I be(hot) inside Jesus and require blood again? Remain or Out you go.

“LAMENTATION 3:37 …who is he that decree a thing and it come to pass when the LORD command it not?” Job did not ‘plead the blood’ before God set an hedge around him,; he simply pleased God.

The truth is that many christians favour the highway; they hate the JUSTIFICATION process – Testing, Trial & Purification(MALACHI 3:1-4…who can bear it;I inclusive).

“ROMANS 8:30 ….those he called he also justified..”. How? “TITUS 2:14 …redemption and purification”

THE TRUE BLESSING OF GOD IS NOT MONEY or material gains. What is it then? = ACTS 3:26

I am sorry if you are confused. All I can tell you is to study your bible and ask God to give you understanding. Most of the comments are opinions and experiences. Just because some one had an experience does not make it right or biblically correct. I use to plead the blood too because that is what I was taught until I studied the Word and found out that the blood was shed for the remission of sins, not for getting our kids of drugs, protection from the devil (or when things don’t go our way) and etc. The bible gives us clear instructions and encouragement for those situations (study proverbs). All we have to do is humble ourselves, study and let go of tradition and error. Speaking is tongues is biblical if done the way the bible dictates (read Corinthians).

It sounds like you have never experience the power of the Blood of Jesus. When you plead the blood you are not begging or using a majic formula. You are declaring what the blood of Jesus represent. Victory over the power of the devil. Some things are not taught but experienced. I recommend that you do what you have experienced, You will get your opportunity to face the devil and a theological debate will not get victory . Without the shedding of blood there would be no remission of sin. I can’t speak for anyone else but when I pkead the blood I am declaring the victory that the blood represent.

    God Bless

I have experienced the blood of Jesus that is why I can stand and say that I have been redeemed. The blood is FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS. Nothing more and nothing less. Please don’t go beyond what scripture teaches. As for experiences, the WORD of God is the final authority not our experiences. The WORD checks our experiences not the other way around. Please don’t fall into the error of experiences over doctrine. The only experience I want to have is what the Word teaches and the word does not teach us to plead the blood.

This is a beautiful post. To God be the glory!
I stumbled across your site while googling “is it biblical to plead the blood” and after doing a searching “plead the blood” on biblegateway.com.
You’re right: there is nothing in Scripture supporting the practice as used by many in church today.
I also used to practice this, especially as spiritual warfare. Have learned, however, to trust that His word is true: God is our refuge and strong tower…abiding in Christ is what keeps us.

    Colossians 1:19For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

When someone “pleads the blood”, aren’t they concerned or wearied over something?

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. ~ 1 Peter 5:7

Jesus says: “Come to ME, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

From Psalm 91…He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God, in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and the noisesome pestilence; He shall cover thee with His feathers and under His wings shalt thou trust.

I like the way you explained how satan is limited in his power to harass us. Attempting to bind him is fruitless.

I’m going to keep your site bookmarked. Do you have a post addressing the practices of deliverance ministry?

Wow, I am so glad I found this teaching on pleading the blood. I have been talking to my girl friend who strongly believe in this. She and her hubby have been getting teaching on this threw ministries that also have a lot of miracles happening in their meetings.
I told her that it is not in any way scriptural. I also said that just because miracles, healings, ect. are present in these meetings doesn’t mean that it is God confirming His Word through sings and wonders as the New Testament says. I told her that in the end times and I believe we are very much in them. Satan would deceive people with similar signs. And that even the elect would possibly be deceived.
We do need to base our beliefs on what the Word teaches and not on what man teaches. No matter who the ministry is. We need to be a workman rightly dividing the Word of truth.
One other thing that a lot of church’s teach or believe is that your sins are what sends you to hell. That is not the case. God’s Word say’s that Jesus died for the sin’s of the WHOLE WORLD-that includes every person, past, present, or future.

But what will sent a person to hell is not accepting and believing in what Jesus did for us. God’s Word says- Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Confession does play a part-but it’s the believing that provides salvation. I am so blessed to see all these brothers and sisters wanting to rightly divide the truth of the Word. Patti

      @ PATTI
“the soul that sins shall die” Ezekiel 18: 20
Please understand that Jesus Christ came to fulfill the prophesies of the old testatment.
ISAIAH 59:20 say “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who REPENT of their sins”. HEBREWS 9:7 ……blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in IGNORANCE. I JOHN 3:6 “No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen hum or known him.

“REVELATIONS 2:23 …..I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds”. Those who genuinely seek God, when HIDDEN(unknown) sins are committed, God opens it up through an experience/s or His Spirit that you may “confess the sins(renounce it – affirming that it is evil)he is then faithful and just to forgive and PURIFY(when you are clean of it DONT go back to Egypt) you from all unrighteousness I JOHN 1:9″. Prophesy? DANIEL 11:35, ZACHARIAH 13:9. It is a continuous purification process from one sin to another – 2 COR 3:18 – for there’s none without sin. 1 JOHN 1:8

SOUL WINNING – As “DANIEL 12:3 …those who lead many TO RIGHTEOUSNESS like stars for ever and ever” you are very correct to say that it is our spirit(our Heart and Mind) man that is reborn to subject our flesh – Romans 8:13, yes; but “PROVERBS 11:30 ….he who wins a soul is wise”. When a spirit is reborn and continues in God’s word and worship in ‘spirit and in truth’, in the end this brings salvation to the SOUL because God is satisfied.

We often get soul mixed up with spirit. Our soul is the part of us that contains out feeling, emotions, or what we can see, taste, hear, smell and feel. When we were born again it was our spirit that was redeemed not our soul.
Our soul and body won’t be redeemed until we either die and go to be with Jesus. Or it will happen when Jesus returns.
So when someone becomes born-again it’s their spirit man that is reborn and redeemed by Jesus now. Otherwise we could not be filled with the Holy Spirit if our spirits where still in their fallen state.
Gods Word say’s that He relates to us threw His Spirit to our spirit. He can’t relate to our souls because they are still in an unredeemed state.
Jesus great commission is in Matt. 28:19&20: therefore go disciple all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. v20:teaching them to observe all things whatever I commanded you.
Here Jesus is telling them to make disciples not just believers. There is a big difference between the two. A believer believes in God and Jesus. They probably go to church every week. They may even read and study the bible. But that is where it ends. So they really aren’t a disciple, but only a believer.
Because if they truly where a disciple they would be doing the same work that Jesus did when He was here on the earth. Like Matt. 10:8 speaks about.
We are told by Jesus to make disciples not just get people born again. What good is their salvation doing them if we don’t disciple them and let them know of all the great spiritual things we posses right now as children of God.

PDCM: I love the truth being spoken hear. Another teaching or saying that a lot if not most Christians us is “soul winning or saving a soul”. That’s not what gets saved when we become born again. It’s our spirit man that is reborn. Our souls and bodies are not saved and won’t be until Jesus return.
Then our spirits will be reunited with our glorified bodies and souls. So when we go out witnessing we are really rebirthing a person’s spirit man.
Something else the Church has not fully done is the great commission. We were told to go out and preach the Gosple, heal the sick, deliver those in bondage, raise the dead and make disciples.
So much of today’s church is not doing any of that. How sad. We make converts, not disciples. I for one am going to be a disciple maker.
I do not mean to plug any ministry here but check out awmi.net. There teachings are so right on with all thats been said here. Patti

Its been very interesting reading all the comments here. I am still quite a young Christian, 7 years a follower of Jesus, I belong to a pentecostal church and have heard of pleading the blood of Jesus but can’t find anything in scripture to back it up. But I believe there is power in the NAME of Jesus and scripture tells us to pray in his name. Also when Jesus was here on earth he healed the sick, cast out demons and forgave sins all before his blood was shed on the cross. Although I DO understand why Jesus had to die, I’m just trying to say that the power IS Jesus and anything you ask in his name believing, you will receive according to Gods will. Its all about Jesus, just talk to him, I don’t believe there’s any need to go around pleading his blood, but if your in a situation remember there’s power in his name, just say his name with Love and reverence.

I seem so confused about Christmas or Easter or birthdays or holidays etc being not biblical by some. We have cars trains and planes. We have electricity. We have medical marvels. Men didn’t wear pants in biblical days. They didn’t have email or television. They didn’t have cell phones. Get my jist? So, should we go back to the days of living as in biblical days or perhapes farther back maybe? Let’s get real! God didn’t plan for us to be ignorant with these great minds He gave us. As I set in front of my computer I am marveled how some want to take biblical text without comparing that text with other text. In the Bible Acts 11:26 says it was in Antioch that the believers were first called Christians and in Acts 20:7 Luke says “On the first day of the week, we gathered with the local believers to share in the Lord’s Supper. Paul was preaching to them..” We live under the New Covenent my friends. The Word of God teaches us history of His people and how we should believe in Jesus as our Redeemer. May god bless you.

GREAT! I am coming out of tradition & into the truth. The sheep of Jesus will hear His voice & come out of error! Who the Son sets free is free indeed. I have been set free by the Gospel TRUTH & am praying for the “organization of the church” which is stuck in traditional error. Keep up the good work. I will be praying for you & I will continue to cry aloud & spare not from Philadelphia. God bless.

this may be triviality to some but for me quite profound: when referring to the passover we should remember the blood of the lamb was not for protection against the enemy, but a flag to notify Gods emissary that this was the home of His chosen ones and they should be left unharmed while the wrath of God was carried out. likewise, my friend had gotten from some televangelist that the story of Joshua 2 was about a red thread which in his imagination became a symbol for ‘blood’ which would protect the family home, but it is the same idea as in the exodus, because it was a THREAD as in YARN (yes it was red) NOT blood, which would notify the soldiers that this was the home of a friend.anyway,i GUESS my friend heard some preacher suggest the analogy that everywhere RED gets mentioned, it must mean blood. some preachers must be bored.

Here is a radical thought that may Christians do not understand. When Jesus shed His blood and died so that our sins would be forgiven us. It also included the sins of every person living or dead past, present and future.
Not just us humans, but also the whole worlds sins. [I John 2:2 and He(Jesus) is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also concerning the whole world] Creation also needed to have their sins forgiven them and be redeemed.
Now you might say, wait a minute. Creation doesn’t commit sin. Oh yes it does. Every time and animal kills another animal it is breaking Gods commandment of DO NOT KILL. Gods original Word say’s in Genesis; that God created animals as living souls. So they also needed a Savior from the curse of sin that Adam and Eve put them under. That’s a radical thought. But it is in Gods Word.
But also when we share with a non-believer we will often tell them that if they don’t repent of their sins that they will go to hell and be forever separated from God. But it is not their sins that are separating them from God. Because Jesus died and forgave everyone of their sins. Past, present, and future. All of our sins have been forgive us. He won’t died again to forgive you. His death was once for all.
I know that sounds radical but it is true. Gods Word say’s so. Yes we do need to confess that we are a sinner when coming to Jesus and accept, and believe what He has done for us and Confessing that He is now our Lord and Savior.
But after that we can’t ask Him to forgive us of sins we commit after we become born-again. He can’t and won’t die again to forgive us of sins we may commit as believers.
But we do need to confess too Him that we blew it and are sorry for what we have done. Purposing in our hearts to not do it again. Asking Jesus to help us be aware of when we are treading on dangerous ground so to speak.
In confessing the committed sin we closing a door for the enemy to come into our lives and try and kill, steal or destroy us. That’s the reason we confess to Jesus our committed sins after we are born-again. Not so that we can receive forgiveness of that sins because He has already provided that for us over 2000 yrs. ago.
People will use John 1:9 to say that right here in the Word it’s telling us to confess our sins after we are born-again. Actually it it talking about an unbeliever and what Jesus has provided them upon their confession of being a sinner and receive salvation.
Both us and creation will be totally redeemed one day when Jesus returns and sets up His New and Everlasting Kingdom. Wow, what love the Father has bestowed upon all mankind and creation.
We need to be telling people of the great love God has for them. Not condemning them. God’s Word say’s that Jesus came into the World not to condemn it but that threw HIM we would have life eternal. Now that is really good news.

Hello Patti and thank you for your post. A couple of things however….
I understand your reasoning is not a radical thought, but a thought in error. This post is not to put you down but to give you a better understanding of God’s Word.

You said: “When Jesus shed His blood and died so that our sins would be forgiven us. It also included the sins of every person living or dead past, present and future.
Not just us humans, but also the whole worlds sins.”

As believers we should refrain from saying this because it opens the door to error and misunderstanding without any explanation. This validates the thought that no matter what I do I am not guilty before God and I basically can do whatever I want because God already forgave me over 2000 years ago. Not so. Yes a provision was made through the blood of Christ and it does cover all BUT this provision comes with a demand that conditions MUST be met in order for one to enjoy it’s benefits. In this case, repentance and believing the Gospel are the condition of receiving the benefit of the provision. The unbeliever must first be born again John 3:3 and as believers we must remain repentive and continue to believe in Jesus (and continue to obey his Word) and He will give us eternal life (col. 1:21;Romans 11:22; 1Tim 4:16 and there are many many more scriptures that teaches us that we MUST continue in the faith in order to have eternal life.)

You said: “Creation also needed to have their sins forgiven them and be redeemed. Every time and animal kills another animal it is breaking Gods commandment of DO NOT KILL. Gods original Word say’s in Genesis; that God created animals as living souls. So they also needed a Savior from the curse of sin that Adam and Eve put them under. That’s a radical thought. But it is in Gods Word.”

This is not God’s Word. Jesus died for humanity. Salvation is centered around the sin of humanity or mankind. Not animals and the grass. Humanity has sinned (Rom. 5:12) and we are under the condemnation of God’s holy Law until we repent of our sins, by acknowledging our guilt of sin and believing on the name of Jesus for salvation. Animals and any other non human thing on this earth cannot do that. Among all life on Earth, only humans are spiritual and, thus, only humans are capable of expressing sin and evil. However man’s sin did bring heavy consequences on all of earth’s creation (Rom. 8:22). God cursed the ground for example Gen. 3:17. Again sin came on this earth through man, not through animals and the rest of God’s creation. They are but innocent by-standers (Rom 5:12). Regarding animals and their soul, they only have a soul in that they possess life (breathing and awareness). They don’t have a eternal spirit goes up to God when they die (Eccl. 3:21)and that is what sets animals, creation and humans apart. They are not made in the image of God and in His likeness (Gen1:26). When they die they go back to the earth or to dust (Eccl. 3:21). The spirit of man continues to exist.

You said: “But also when we share with a non-believer we will often tell them that if they don’t repent of their sins that they will go to hell and be forever separated from God. But it is not their sins that are separating them from God. Because Jesus died and forgave everyone of their sins. Past, present, and future. All of our sins have been forgive us. He won’t died again to forgive you. His death was once for all.”

Sin is exactly what separates the unbeliever from God (Is. 59:2; 2Cor 6:14; Rom 8:7; Col. 1:21; Rom 5:10). Your statement is exactly the reason why we should not think that Christ died for our sins past, present, and future without real understanding. There is a condition or a prerequisite that we must come to terms with before we are forgiven. Forgiveness is only granted if we accept Gods terms and that is we are guilty and will remain guilty unless we repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of our sins Acts 2:38. If we don’t YES the unbeliever is going to hell for his/her sin. The invitation to be saved is to WHOSOEVER… “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And WHOSOEVER WILL, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17). Whosoever will may come to be saved. This is the freewill of mankind. If they don’t come to Jesus, Jesus can’t help them and they are already condemned. Jesus said He that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life (John 5:24). This means that “he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18).

Closing, for all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God (Rom 3:23) and if unbelievers do not repent and believe the gospel and then continue on in the faith they are not going to heaven. If they don’t repent and believe the gospel their sins are NOT forgiven. Their sins are NOT blotted out (Acts 3:19).

These posts are not to “condemn’ anyone but to proclaim the truth and if the truth of God’s Words is giving you or anyone a feeling of condemnation then it is because “the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Heb.4:12)

If man just repents and believe the gospel he shall be saved and if he continues on in the faith being obedient to Christ he shall never be condemned and will spend eternity with the Lord. Now that is good news.

Saints lets read and study our bibles so that we will not be lead away in error. God bless.

      Dear Patti,

Thank you for your contribution to this site.

But may I ask you Sir/Madam, if what you wrote here are your personal opinion or are they Bible dictates?

May I also ask you, if you agree that Christ is the fulfillment of a certain Covenant? If yes, does your write-up tie in with the Covenant/Promise itself?

Do you agree Sir/Madam, that we must constantly meditate on the Word of God inorder to be “true disciples” of Jesus Christ?

      My email address: undemonize40@yahoo.co.uk

      Kind regards.

I am sorry for some of the statements I had made being my own opinion. I do not wish to proclaim any false truth of distorted truth. I should have never stated that animals sin or need their sins forgiven. The Law was given to mankind not animals. So again I do not want to speak or proclaim anything except what Gods Word tells us.
We do need to be constantly meditating on Gods Word, studying it, speaking it, and asking the Holy Spirit to continue to give us revelation knowledge and understanding. The entrance of the Word brings Light.
The Holy Spirit was sent to guide us into all the truth of Gods Word.
Yes, I agree that we will then be true disciples. As Jesus declared in John 3:30-32.

I believe there is a spirit of the devil or the flesh that hate the blood of Jesus and wants it forgotten and swept under the rug so to speak, some radio stations have forbid preaching about the blood of Jesus, people want to forget about the blood. we do know we must drink his blood even today if we have any life in us, and we must also eat his flesh which is the living word of God, and his blood is the spirit of truth, when some plead the blood of Jesus they are not trying to apply it, but bringing it into rememberance, refreshing our minds about what Jesus done for us and his blood is still flowing from his vain’s today. and his blood will never lose its power. I thank you that have so much to day about his blood had better be careful and not to deny his blood in any way, it could be a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God to be judged.

Hello Dolores and thank you for your post. I totally agree to what you posted and I am not “sweeping” the blood of Jesus under the rug or trying to forget it. I usually don’t address posts like this or even post them because it clearly tells me that the poster making the comment did not read the article. Perhaps they only read the title and ran with it or just skimmed through it without grasping what I wrote.

First of all this post is not about denying the blood of Jesus, forgetting about it or anything of that sort. Please read with understanding. This paragraph is taken from the very top of the post and I will put it here again.

“Please read the post in its entirety to understand why “pleading the blood” by way of the examples given is not bliblical. The blood of Jesus is important and this post does not dispute that. This post is about using the blood of Jesus by “pleading it” in order to get a house, job, fight enemies and etc. Some of us, depending on what church you go to have been taught many things out of tradition, error or simply from a lack of understanding.”

Now with that said and reading the post in proper perspective you can clearly see why pleading the blood in this manner is not biblical. If you or anyone else was not taught to do this, then praise the Lord. I see you were taught well by what you wrote. We are to always remember why His blood was shed and be thankful. But this post is for those of us who were taught wrong and to use the blood of Jesus for personal and worldly gain and to fight satan (by chanting or saying the blood of Jesus to the devil. We are to fight the devil the biblical way as explained in the post. The blood of Jesus is not for warfare but for the cleansing of our sin so that we can have communion with the Father and live in a relationship with God (1 Jn.1:6-9). Lev. 17:11 teaches us also that the blood which makes atonement for the soul. The New Testament atonement by Jesus was to make payment for our sins unto God the Father. The blood was sacrificed toward the Father to appease his punishment of sinners (us). Propitiation for sins is always Godward. The Father accepted the death of his Son as payment for our sins. It was between God the Father and the God/man Christ Jesus and is still effective today (Rom. 3:25; Heb. 2:17; 1 Jn. 2:2; 4:10). 1 Jn. 1:7 teaches us that the blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us from all sin and we must never forget or down grade that by claiming it does anything else…like helping us get a job or a car. Some of us again have been taught that. So please, read the post the way it was written and understand why it was written before you assume that I am denying the blood, because I am clearly not.

      Leah…lol

You are right. It is the same thing. It is just a play on words, the concept is similar if it is used in the same way as the examples that I gave in the post. The Bible only teaches us that we were purchased with His blood (acts 20:28) and as a result we are declared righteous through faith in His blood for remission and forgiveness of sins (Rom. 3:25; Eph. 1:7) believing that when He died on the cross and shed his blood for us he justified us saving us from wrath through him (Rom. 5:9). If Christ did not shed his blood then there would be no remission of sin (Heb. 9:22). I urge you to do a study about the blood of Christ. I promise that you will find that all of the “stuff (protection, materialistic things, things that we want to happen in our lives)” that we “declare and decree” by applying or pleading the blood is not found in scripture. No Apostle or anyone else use the blood of Jesus in the manner that we do now. It is simply in my opinion tradition and lack of understanding/or admitting that it is wrong because of pride. It is also a lack of faith because God already promised that he will provide for us and protect us (Hev. 13:5). By saying these cliches and phrases not supported by scripture it makes us feel better about the situation. Instead of having faith in God and God alone, we resort to idolatry and put the faith in his blood in a way scripture does not teach.

Some use it as in a court room plea. But get this, only God can do that. We can’t. God does this for a sinner. If we are saved what are we pleading the blood for? Didn’t he already do it? Aren’t our sins forgiven and remitted because of our faith and by believing the gospel and keeping his commandments afterwards? If so it all becomes silly. Truthfully it does, but most of us don’t want to admit it. It is idolatry and idolatry is as stubbornness (1 Sam. 15:23). The The blood of Jesus cleanses us of our sins. That is why he died. If we try to apply his blood for anything else other that what scripture teaches then we are in error. When I began to study the Word and divided it truthfully it killed me to find out all of the pleading I was doing was not according to the truth. When I prayed I had to catch myself because I would go back and plead the blood against the devil when scripture told me to submit to God first then resist the devil and that is how he will flee. If pleading the blood on the devil was right and true it would have been given to us as direction in the Bible, but it is not.

Be blessed my sister and please come back and share your findings. I am not the absolute truth. The bible is and everything that I wrote is what is in the bible. No one can ever say that pleading or applying the blood is in the Word because it is not. The blood is applied to us when we repent and believe the gospel for the remission of our sins (because that is what it was shed for) and we ourselves can’t do it (by saying it or pleading it) only God does it and he does it supernaturally.

God is not a God of confusion. He cannot lie to us .lets read the word more so that we can recognise the lies of man.His Holy Spirit will teach us all things. we need a spirit of discerment in all the teaching in the church.

The concept of pleading the blood of Jesus comes from the book of Revelation.
If you ever are confronted with a demon plagued person and you wish to help
them get free, then keep this handy, where you can get to it quickly. It works.

    The scripture references are:

Revelation 12:11 — They (the believers on earth) overcame him (Satan) by the Blood of
the Lamb (Jesus Christ), and by the word of their testimony. (That is, they testified to
what the Word of God says about the blood of Jesus.)

Ephesians 1:7 — In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of
sins, according to the riches of his grace.

Psalm 107:2 — Let the Redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from
    the hand of the enemy.

1 John 1:7 — But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one
with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Romans 5:9 — Much more then, now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from
    wrath through him.

Hebrews 13:12 — Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own
    blood, suffered without the gate.

1 Corinthians 6:19–20 — What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy
Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit,
    which are God’s.
    ________________________________________________________________________

BY THIS I OVERCOME THE DEVIL

I testify to Satan personally as to what the word says the blood does for me

Through the blood of Jesus, I am redeemed out of the hand of the devil

Through the blood of Jesus, all my sins are forgiven

The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, continually cleanses me frm all sin.

Through the blood of Jesus, I am justified, made righteous, just as-if-I’d never sinned

Through the blood of Jesus I am sanctified, made holy, set apart to God

My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, redeemed, cleansed, by the blood of Jesus

God is so faithful! I have been praying to God concerning what I have been taught in the Pentecostal Church and I must say that I was in a spiritual mess. I blame myself and repented to the Lord for not developing a Relationship with Jesus himself and studying God’s word. So in search for the truth I was taught that we were to plead the blood of Jesus over our lives or finances, our marriage our homes. Ministers would plead the blood of Jesus as he prayed over us. I never gave it much thought until I began searching for the truth of Gods word (its other doctrines that made me skeptical led me to this pleading of the blood teaching) and I have to say that I honestly believe in all sincerity that pleading the Blood of Jesus over my finances is wrong and is unnecessary. The Apostles never taught this, and it is mentioned no where in the bible. I think the problem is most people get so caught up in traditions or what other people do it becomes a routine to them and this is scary and I can say this because I was one of those people. I thank God for you and this site because you are exposing unbiblical traditions of men.

ISN’T PLEADING THE BLOOD OF JESUS, IS OF THE BLOOD SACRIFICE OF CHRIST JESUST WHOM GOD SENT TO BE THE SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD? JOHN CALLED JESUS “THE LAMB OF GOD” WHO COME TO TAKE AWAY SIN OF THE WORLD!

JOHN 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

THE SACRIFICE, SHEDDING THE BLOOD OF JESUS WAS A “ONE TIME” SACRIFICE FOR TO TAKE AWAY THE WORLD SIN.

HAVING THE TRUE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS AND WILFULLY SIN AGAIN, THERE IS NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS…AND MANY HAVE SIN AGAIN, AND IF THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE NOT A SINNER, THEY LIE AND THE TRUTH IS NOT IN THEM!

SO NOW WE ALL FALL UNDER THE GRACE OF GOD, STILL BELIEVING IN JESUS WHAT JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS AND ABOLISHING THE LAWS FROM OVER US, REMOVING THE CURSES ATTACHED TO THOSE LAWS, BUT CONFESSING OUR SIN IN JESUS NAME TO GOD ALMIGHTY “JEHOVAH”, WHO IS FAITHFUL AND WILL FORGIVCE US, IT BY HIS GRACE THROUGH JESUS, FOR IT IS A GIFT! ..AND NOT BY THE BLOOD SACRIFICE AGAIN!

HEBREWS 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there REMAINETH NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS!

1st JOHN 1:9. If we CONFESS OUR SINS, he (GOD ALMIGHTY) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to CLEANSE us from all unrighteousness.

NOTE# Why would we have to CONFESS ANY SINS AGAIN SINCE OVER 2000 YRS AGO THE BLOOD SACRIFICE CLEANSE US OF OUR SINS AND WE WERE TAUGHT THIS AND BELIEVED!….BECAUSE MANKIND SINNED AGAIN AFTER KNOWING OF THIS TRUTH!

(THERE IS NO MORE BLOOD SACRIFICE, OR ANY SACRIFICE THAT REMOVE YOUR SINS)

HEBREWS 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there REMAINETH NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS!

1st JOHN 4:15. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, GOD DWELLETH IN HIM, and He IN GOD! (I DWIGHT NORRIS CONFESS THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD) JESUS IS THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD!)

NOW WHO EVER WANT TO BLEED THE BLOOD SACRIFICE FOR THEIR SINS AGAIN, I GUESS THEY COULD DO WHAT THEY LIKE, BUT I ASKED FOR GOD ALMIGHTY GRACE IN THE FAITH AND NAME OF JESUS FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF MY SINS!

Ephesians 2:8. For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT OF GOD!
GALATIANS 2:21. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

GALATIANS 5:4. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

The enemys purpose is to convince us that the word and the name is not enough. We need to add our formula ( our tradition= word or prayer of no effect)

Such as: Jesus is good but you also need to be circumcised, plead the blood, name the disease, break the generational curse etc.

Jn 14:14 ask any thing in my name
Acts 3:16 faith in his name has made this man whole
Acts 4:12 none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

” Jesus and Jesus alone has poured out his blood for the remission of our sins” Phil 2:9 Therefore YHWH has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name. 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow

I used to add all those man made formulas until the Lord revealed that I was using them because of my lack of faith in his name.

There are a lot of things yet uncovered that are not in the bible, whether it was God’s will, or man when he was translating it from the original scriptures left out for whatever reason. So I would suggest praying and asking God for wisdom and understanding on this subject is the best thing to do. Because He said that He would take the foolish things to confound the wise.

I totally agree with you Sabrina. I know personally that while in praise and worship the Spirit of God told me to plead the blood of Jesus. If it hadn’t been God, I would have questioned it but since it was God, I’m won’t. I can’t explain why it isn’t in the bible but I believe what God says.

One thing that I know from experience is that you can plead the blood of Jesus and it comes down, but then, depending on how much you have loosed or plead it, it goes away.

If you have or the person pleading the blood of Jesus, has a righteous standing with God, then they are using the weapons that God has given them! I could see someone who didn’t know him, maybe a backslider pleading just to get something with no relationship with God, but for the righteous, we have the right to legally plead or loose Jesus’ blood.

Sometimes we think we hear God, but what we are hearing is tradition (what we were taught on how to handle a situation) or experience. God will never go against the written Word. There are so many voices, but we have to really pray, even when we think it is God (because it may not be) and search His Word and do what the Word says. We are all a work in progress and we are all getting to know the Lord better day by day. I am not saying that God does not speak to you, but sometimes tradition and experience speaks louder. If it is not in the Bible or if we can’t give scriptures to back up what God has told us to do or spoke to us about then it becomes suspect and we should fall on our knees and into His Word. You gave us what you know from experience. This is one of the main problems in the body of Christ. We should go by the infallible Word over experience because it will be right every time. Our experiences can only change with truth and they are ever changing. As a result we should not totally rely on them. Pleading the blood is not a weapon that God gave us. There is no scriptural basis for that. He only gave us the spiritual weapons and armor outlined in Eph 6:13-18 which is truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God and prayer. We are also taught to make the devil flee, not by pleading the blood as some of us was taught, but by submitting to God and resisting him James 4:7. Also when demons were cast out, no where in scripture did any Apostle, saint or even Jesus plead the blood. We have to be very careful and begin to examine all that we were taught and see if it lines up with the Word, not our personal experiences.

I’m so excited I finally find someone who would lend a voice to my stand. From the very first time I heard the cliché ‘I plead the blood’ (that should be over a decade ago) I knew it just was not right. I have since known my stand though, but it saddens when I hear such unscriptural utterance from men of God I look up to. The responses this post has generated has been (I speak for self) revealing on the one hand and amusing on the other. Well, I’d let my words be few on that. Problem is many Christians are too lazy to search the scriptures themselves, therefore placing the word from the pulpit (spoken by man) over the written Word.

This is my consolation though: We all are still ‘a work-in-progress’, for there is still much more to be revealed (…we know in parts!); also, the morning dawns for each person at different time. I trust each person will see the truth in the Word as we yield to Him. Lastly, “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face…but then shall I know even as also I am known.” 1 Corinth 13:12

Many thanks for putting up this post. Wow! Some lines in the post were my exact thoughts word-for-word, verbatim! I’m glad I saw this…and I’m sharing it.

    Bless God for your lives….

Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. I Peter 1:2 it says that we are elected unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus; I am absolutely sure that as we are still in the presense of sin and we are also locked in sinful nature even being saved, we need the blood to be sprinkled all the time when we pray. I would like to quote Hebrew 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, {boldness: or, liberty} as you see, no explanation needed, we enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus. If it was not the blood shed we would be in hell now suffering eternal destruction because that is what any of us deserved for Adam’s sin which we also share.

I do agree with many of the points that you make in your post, but I think there is a scripture that you don’t mention in your post which is found in revelation Revelation 12:11.

The scripture states that “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

I may have some issues with with “Pleading the blood of Jesus”, but I do believe that the blood of Jesus is powerful enough to give a believer victory over Satan.

My response to Oluwasanmi for-short is that a christian who claim to be sincere cannot be lazy with the scriptures and I also quote I Peter, chapter 1, verse 2, in which it is written: Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
    1 Pedro 1:2
    I would like to emphasize “sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. As in the old testment Israel need to be sprinkled with the blood of animals because of sin, so we do need to be sprinkled with the blood of Jesus, because despite the fact that we are still saved and have been sanctified, we still are in the presence of sin in our flesh. The blood of Jesus is our door to the presence of God as it is written in Hebrew 10: 19-20 : Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, {boldness: or, liberty}
By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; {consecrated: or, new made} I also quote first John 2:2 and Hebrew chapter 9, please read all of it very carefully for it explains the importance of the blood of Jesus to the people. God really meant the blood of Jesus as a propiciation for us. To add more, thank God there are many pastors mentioning the blood of Jesus and they do that by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, this is not a word given by man. Satan do not want us to pay attention to the blood of Jesus sprinkled on us, because he knows that by the blood we have victory over him, since God does not see us as a sinners but he see us through the redemption accomplished by Christ on the cross on our behalf; He see us as dead to sin with Christ for sin and resurrected with Him for justice.

    Question Silvana:

I Peter 1:2- I read part of it that says “sprinkling by the blood” NIV version. “By” and “of” will change the meaning of a sentence or a saying.

    Psalm 25:4-5.

What made me look this up about pleading the blood. My aunt told me over the Christmas weekend that “the blood of Jesus cover you or something to that nature.” I responded that whatever happens on the highway happens. I didn’t mention why I said it, but I know in my heart God knows best. I resign to it, even His discipline. Once saved, you are already covered. Begs the question from a statement I read earlier, (where does it stop?) Do you plead the blood on someone who hasn’t professed Christ in their heart as their Lord and Savior so that they could be saved? Of course you can, but you can plead the blood all you want and that will not save them. I left Psalm 25:4-5 to those who may disagree with me, but we are all still learning and I need prayer just as much as the next man…especially the part …”show me your ways, teach me your paths, and guide me in YOUR TRUTH. To God be the glory through the power of His Holy Spirit. Thanks so much for this article. Pleading the blood of Jesus doesn’t sit well with me either. Tradition of man has crept in.

just because a lie stayed in the office for a long time does not make it a right.l have search the scriptures and have never come across any verse that shows the pleading of the blood of Jesus …l have actually learn that the blood of Jesus is for the remission of sin.Read heb 9:22 it says “without the shedding of the blood there is no remission of sin” and if you study further in the book of 1 John 1:7 it says “the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanseth us from all sins”We can only talk about the blood of Jesus when sin is involved ie to that brethren who is not yet born again. When you want to search away demons you use the name of Jesus only, read Mark 16:17 and these signs shall follow them that believe in MY NAME they shall cast out devils. No wonder why the bible says my people perish because of lack of knowledge.Note its not the people in the world that are perishing but those who are called the people of God.Thank you so much for this post,it is really an eye opener to those who were ignorant about this

I’ve caught myself doing this too in the past because the tradition of it was impressed upon us. When you stop and just think about it, pleading the blood of Jesus for “protection” seems really absurd. Don’t we have Jesus sitting and the right hand of the Father making intercession for us? Doesn’t He already have ALL POWER in His hand? Just a little talk with Jesus will make it alright…and if He can’t do it, well there is nothing left to plead.

We also have scripture that tells us about how demonic influences worked against the apostles and they recognized it for what it was. When Satan hindered the apostle Paul (1 Thess. 2:18), he acknowledged it. Maybe he didn’t know to plead the blood of Jesus! Yeah, right. Maybe Paul was wrong when he said to take up the shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one (Eph 6:16). Should we just “plead the blood of Jesus” instead?

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The blood opened the door; let the Living Christ walk us through.

First, PDCM, thank you for this post. Things like this really need to be taught. There is a lot of falsehood taught in todays churches, including some of the people at my own church sometimes. I have worshipped in many churches and a lot of things (superstitious types of things) make me feel really uncomfortable. These are things such as binding satan, pleading the blood over our stuff, (My mom told me today to plead the blood of Jesus over my hot water heater that isn’t working correctly…I refused and tried to explain…but I’m like Moses and don’t always have the words to speak well), speaking in tongues (though not all is unspiritual—I have yet to see it done the way the bible describes), pushing people on their head until they fall down (I forget what they call this), etc. I have been in and out of the church all of my life and have been taught many different ‘styles’ of worship. But when I finally decided to truly give my life to the Lord in my 30′s I laid down everything, including my beliefs from what I had been taught, and studied the bible as it is, trying not to allow any doctrines or church teachings to cloud my interpretation.

What I believe is that these things actually draw us farther from Christ. When I was believing these things, they caused me to feel imperfect, like I wasn’t doing it right, that I wasn’t blessed or didn’t get what (I thought) I needed, because I didn’t ask, plead, state or do the right thing. I felt that if I was saved that I shouldn’t be going through these hard times because my church said all I had to do was ____ and God would take care of it. That I shouldn’t get sick because I make a certain statement when I feel sickenss coming on. It didnt take long for me to realize that first these activities made me feel very uncomfortable (feeling like I was concerned about breaking a mirror or had to throw salt over my shoulder…lol), and second, they didn’t do anything for me. When I finally laid all that down and studied the Word as it is, I felt peace and contentment in my life just the way it was. I was thankful for the trailer that I live in and that I had food on the table and that I was healthy…for the most part. I didn’t need the “idea” of prosperity, because I realized that I already am rich! I didn’t need everything to work perfectly or my life to go smoothly, because God will take care of me, and if something goes wrong, it’s likely not a kingdom issue. So there’s nothing to worry about. I realized that the most important thing in my life is sharing the love of Jesus with my family and the people around me. This world is not my home, my home is in God’s kingdom, and I want to share the kingdom with others. We can take nothing with us but people. When we are in God’s kingdom, we will not care if our car was broke, or if we didn’t have enough money in our bank account, or if we had everything we wanted in this world. We will be so overwhelmed by God’s holiness that we will probably not even remember most of this life. The bible tells us that worship is caring for the widows and the orpans, not listening to music and repeating mantras. It’s not a feeling, not an experience, our righteousness comes from serving our Father! My peace in my life comes from knowing that I am His and that I can serve Him for the rest of my time here on earth. I only pray that I will serve him at every opportunity given to me, rather than putting myself first.

Do we not sometimes confuse the source of the Power we are talking about?

When all the above writers mentioned the power that is available for a Christian, when using the word “Blood of Jesus”, should it not be: “In the Name of Jesus”?

I do not believe there is any real power left in the blood that was spilled at the cross. It’s gone, dried up and blown away in the wind. To still give that blood any magical power would be paganistic and supersticious.

I believe that the power is not in the blood itself…the blood is just the symbol, chosen by God.

God said the Life is in the blood….Blood it is not a magical (pagan like) substance, it is the vital oxygen supplying liquid, without which nobody can live.. neither could Jesus, the Son of God, when he was man.

When He shed His blood, gave His blood, let it flow…or however you want to call it, it simply meant that he died.

If He was electrocuted, lethally injected, or broken on the wheel, it would still had the same meaning for mankind.

He gave His all…His entire Life, so that we can have forgiveness of our sins and have eternal life.

That is history…today the power lies in the fact that He has risen and is alive…and on the throne!

He told his followers to use His Name. If we have to drive out demons…do it in the Name of Jesus, if we want to raise the dead or the sick, do it in the Name of Jesus…so as to admit that we are not able to do it in our own power, but we are using the power given to us by Him. John 15: 16

.Peter said to the lame man:” In the Name of Jesus…. stand up!” Acts 3:6

Thank you for giving me clarity on this subject. I heard a teaching on this subject just yesterday and, because I was confused as to what “plead” the blood meant, decided to research the topic. When I Googled it, your blog was among those that surfaced. I read several, including yours. Yours made the most sense to me, though I admit I wish I *could* do something to bar the enemy from entering my office. I work in a place where evil spirits are often welcomed, albeit unknowingly, and would love to have some way of protecting my personal office domain from evil spirits. Is there no way this can be done? (I do pray for myself every day, spend time in the Word and worship, but I still find working here in such a spiritually heavy environment exhausting.)

      Hello Wordwoman,

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to prevent the devil from entering your office per-say. The reason is because God has temporarily allowed the devil power to be the prince of the ruler of the air (Eph. 2:2). This includes where we work, where we go shopping and etc. As long as other people are around and present that are not redeemed by Christ, there will always be evil (John 8:44; Rom. 8:9). This is why Jesus prayed not that God would take us out of the world but to keep us from evil while we are in it (John 17:15). This is why it is important that we take ownership of our own soul and spirit and cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself above the knowledge of God (2Cor. 10:5-6). This is why we are to put on the whole armor of God when we go to work and other places, we have to have it on at all times, even in our home so that we can quench all the fiery darts of the devil (Eph. 6:11-18). We are taught in scripture to resist the devil, submit to God and he will flee from us (James 4:7-8). He may not flee from your office (your world and the world around you), but know that you will be at peace within and unaffected. This is how scripture teaches us to protect ourselves. Also if you are dwelling in the secret place of the most high he promised that you will abide in His shadow (Ps.91:1) . Jesus Himself prayed for us (John 17:15), rest in the truth that no matter what is going on around you, God is protecting you. You are protected.

      Be blessed my sister,

Well said, my friend. The Word-of-Faith Movement has written a whole new prescription for Christianity with its esoteric language and practices. Speaking as a neo-pentecostal, I lament its dilution of an epochal pentecostal outpouring that once sported and promised great evangelistic fervor. WOF now forces us to direct much energy to washing their oil spill from the saints, often with resistance from those we labor to rescue. Theirs are works doomed to the fire. May the Lord have mercy on them in that day.
